The objective of the Rin water conservation campaign was to make urban consumers realise that water scarcity is not a distant issue, but a harsh reality faced by millions of people every day. The idea was simple yet powerful: help people understand the effort it can take to get just one bucket of water.
Most advertising campaigns begin with a product.
This one began with a bucket of water.
Advertising is often about getting attention. This campaign was about creating awareness.
The objective of the Rin water conservation campaign was to make urban consumers realise that water scarcity is not a distant issue, but a harsh reality faced by millions of people every day. The idea was simple yet powerful: help people understand the effort it can take to get just one bucket of water.
When the creative team at Wunderman Thompson (formerly JWT) brought the concept to us, we knew the execution had to feel completely authentic. To achieve that, we collaborated with renowned photographer Prashant Godbole, while our team at Craving Digital India handled the post production and final visual refinement.
The biggest challenge was finding the right location. We searched across the dry regions of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Karnataka before discovering the perfect well in Wai, Maharashtra. The site needed to feel real, open, and severe enough to communicate the emotional weight of water scarcity.
More than 100 real villagers were brought to the location, and they were encouraged to carry their own utensils and water containers to preserve authenticity. The goal was to rely on reality rather than heavy digital manipulation.
The final aerial composition transformed the gathering of people into the shape of a bucket, creating a visual that is both symbolic and deeply human. Paired with the message “Make a difference. Save a bucket of water every day,” the campaign became more than a print advertisement. It became a reminder of how precious water truly is.
This project remains one of our proudest productions, not only because it received recognition, but because it combined strong creativity with genuine social relevance and left a lasting impact on everyone who experienced it.
